In Shanghai, China, on 29 May 2009, a new record was set for the largest cushion in the world, measuring 10.08 x 10.08 m (33 ft 8 in x 33 ft 8 in). It was made by Shanghai Konglong Textile Ornaments Co., Ltd.
The cushion was a precise, scaled-up version of a normal-siz
ed cushion of 0.65 x 0.65 m (2 ft 1.5 in x 2 ft 1.5 in). It took 10 workmen more than one month to make the cushion. The cloth used weighed about 60 kg (132 lb) and the filling was polyester and weighed about 550 kg (1,212 lb). According to the manufactur er, the filling was enough to fill 700 normal-siz ed pillows, something that may really happen after the event. Guinness World Records™ Adjudicato r Angela Wu measured and checked the cushion herself before she presented the representa tive from the manufactur er with a certificat e commemorat ing the achievemen t.
